touch technique

the body is a canvas - you're an artist not a labourer.

whatever you are using, there are three variables that make the tool sing in different ways

the mark - movement of the contact point with the skin is directional. you can make the contact continuous or intermittent. continuous allows prediction of direction and prediction builds expectation or tension. intermittent leads to uncertainty. it creates surprise

pressure - the harder you push, the more blunt the sensation. too much pressure is massage. people aren’t robots, they will react differently at different times. nerve endings are clustered in different areas in different densities so touch will elicit different responses in different places

speed - every tool will feel different at different speeds. a slower more methodical approach allows for finer, more nuanced sensations. dwelling for too long can deaden the area.

mix these three. the permutations are endless. there’s no pleasure in rushing. meander. disguise your intentions
